About Salsa Racing

Salsa Racing is a magazine about social dance — the doing of it, the music underneath it, and the places it sends us. It grew out of years spent on late-night floors in half a dozen countries, and out of the conversations that happen at the edge of them, when dancers compare notes on timing, teachers and the best trips they have ever taken.

We are dancers first and writers second. Between us we lead and follow, we have stumbled through our share of congresses, and we still argue happily about On1 versus On2. What unites everything here is a belief that social dancing is one of the great pleasures available to an ordinary person, and that a little knowledge makes it richer.

What we cover

Three things, mostly: technique and etiquette for the floor, the history and structure of the music, and the growing world of dance travel — retreats, congresses and the logistics of chasing good dancing abroad. We write for the improver who wants to go deeper, not the absolute beginner and not the professional.

We take no payment to recommend anyone, and we say so when we love something.
